8th July 2018:

Friendly hosts. Warm welcome received. On site facilities explained during check-in. Plentiful, freshly cooked breakfast. Room had everything we needed to make our short stay comfortable. Very clean property. Happily accommodated my husband's road cycle (pre-advised). Hazel was happy to recommend things to do during our stay and offer tips to make the most of our time in Penzanace. Happy to recommend this property to other travellers.

Tips:

Hotel located a short walk from the town centre. We ate at the Taj Mahal and The Dolphin Inn. Both really enjoyable meals with good service. Dolphin Inn is very popular. Had a slight wait for table and for food. Pre-booking is advisable. Plenty of parking available in the street outside the hotel.

1st July 2018:

Absolutely wonderful, sorry we were so focused on walking the SWCP that we missed two cooked breakfasts. The take-away breakfasts were a very good substitute. One minor comment, please describe breakfast options on arrival, rather than assume everyone will want an 8-9am start. We are probably in a small minority who want to get out early some days, because we often find ourselves asking for special breakfast favours, but you (unusually) have a system available that accommodates our needs.

Thank you and pleased you liked our takeaway breakfast. Not sure about comments we do discuss breakfast options on arrival. You said you were going to be our worst guests for breakfast as you had issues at previous stops. But no one would do a cooked breakfast for you leaving at 630 am. You were not our worst guests but you obviously were not offered takeaways elsewhere This should be a review for us not about other less accommodating b and b’s / hotels

The Pendennis Guest house was excellent the room was immaculate and very nice the bed was very comfortable, the location was brilliant just a short walk into the town, the breakfast was excellent and Hazel the owner was very helpful she gave us information on where to visit and good places to park. I would definitely stay again.

Tips:

The Turks head on chapel street is a good place to eat but I would recommend booking a table in advance, the Thai restaurant on queens street is also good. We visited the Minack theatre and porthacuro beach it was amazing one of the best beaches we have been to. St Michaels mount is also worth a visit. There's lots to do in Penzance.

7th May 2018:

Our room was spotless and was bright and inviting. The bed was so comfortable, we both slept brilliantly. The attention to detail was welcomed and Hazel couldn’t be more friendly and attentive. Breakfast was lovely and all freshly prepared and cooked. A good selection was offered. Hazel was celebrating her birthday yesterday and it was lovely that the whole ‘breakfast room ‘ felt relaxed and happy enough to wish her Happy Birthday! The guest house is close enough to walk into Penzance but you will need your walking shoes on ! Overall , couldn’t be happier with our choice of accommodation,it was everything you look for in a B&B , would definitely recommend to any one looking to stay in the area.

Tips:

Has to be a visit to St Michaels Mount, either by walking the causeway or by ferry. For the full experience check out times of opening and the gardens are not open on a weekend.Marazion itself is also lovely. Another must is Kynance Cove, the walk is well worth it. You can easily spend the whole day there and is so beautiful.A short drive away is Lizard Point, whilst we didn’t particularly think much of the town we had a great home cooked meal at a beautiful cafe/restaurant which overlooks the stunning view !

Parking:Free on road outside. Secure Bike Storage. Large, Spotless & quiet room with all facilities we needed. Breakfasts were our best meals - I was riding the Lands End 100 start at 8.00am and as I came down early there was a double foil wrapped large brown bread sandwich with sausages and bacon and mustard waiting for me which set me up for 5 hours in the rain! Post Sportive a long hot shower was perfect. Sunday b'fast beautifully cooked, presented & served ready for return trip. We could not have wished for anything better. Hazel you are a star. Thank you.

Tips:

Gino's delicious food individually cooked. Limited choice and over an hours wait to eat was disappointing but the food was good. Navy Inn highly rated but just shut & up for sale. Beachfield Hotel no dinners at weekend. Queens Hotel (next to Gino's) brilliant service sadly not matched by the food. Too tired to walk any further as there are lots of well rated restaurants a little further along. Porthcurno, Minnack Theatre, Mousehole and Penndennis Castle are family favourites .

A beautiful house in an ideal setting.Five /ten minutes work from the town centre. A substantial breakfast ( plenty of choice) served with a smile. Friendly helpful owners. Would recommend to others, and would definitely return ourselves.

Tips:

Mouse hole and Marizon approx 1.5 hours walk away. Plenty of eating places within 10-15 minutes walk, would recommend "The Admiral Benbow" and the "Thai - Moon", both very friendly , serving excellent food. Penzance is an ideal base to visit the many tourist attractions that are situated in West Cornwall.

Warm reception. Great breakfasts. Very comfortable room.

Tips:

Try to avoid peak holiday season. Travelling in & around the area can be extremely busy. During warm & inclement weather conditions, coastal path walking is the most rewarding thing to do. There are plenty & a wide range of eating houses but when the weather is wet entertainment locations could be a long drive away. The bus service is excellent.

Sincere thanks to Hazel and her husband for making our stay in Penzance so comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice on the menu. The bed was very comfortable and the room itself was a good size and not at all cramped. We were very happy to submit our choice for breakfast the previous evening which was a great way to avoid waste. We have been recommending the Pendennis already to our friends. The price was very reasonable.

Tips:

Lunch on Sunday in the Admiral Benbow was enjoyable and good value. The walking tour of Penzance with Anna was informative. The coast walk to Mousehill from Penzance was worth doing (only 3 miles). Check if the Minack theatre is open for visitors before visiting. Lovey Stanhope Forbes art exhibition in Penlee House in Penzance. Overall there are plenty of restaurants to try out.

The hosts were most welcoming and looked after any of our needs with no trouble whatsoever. Parking was in the street outside which was very convenient and we found no problem getting a space even when we came back from a show at the Minack theatre after 11pm. Breakfast was excellent and our room was more than adequate. If ever we return to Penzance we would definitely look for accommodation at the Pendennis. The venue is within walking distance to the main town and we went out each evening for an evening meal. Would recommend anyone to book this establishment.

Tips:

Had a meal in Blacks restaurant which was quite expensive for the food and service we had. The seating could have been better as I was sitting on a chair but my wife was sat on a bench which was at a higher height. Most peculiar. Also ate in the Turks Head (the oldest pub in Penzance) menu was typical pub food very nice, staff very friendly with a great atmosphere. Most enjoyable time was had.

The best B&B / Guest House we have stayed in. What more can we say about a B&B than good and well presented breakfast (we stayed 3 nights and my husband deliberately tried 3 different cooked offerings) clean and lovely room, comfortable bed and very personable and welcoming hosts. Would have no hesitation in re-booking if visiting Penzance area again. Thank you Hazel and Russell

Excellently run B&B with the quality of breakfast and service of the highest standard. Very friendly and efficient hosting, well located for sea front and town and parking close by is generally not a problem.

Tips:

There are many good eating places in Penzance to suit all tastes and budgets, but we had an exceptional fish meal at The Boatshed 15 mins walk away. It was a Saturday night so booking essential.

We received a very warm welcome on arrival and each morning when we went for breakfast (very filling). Great advice was given when we explained our plans for the day, making our day easier from the start. The location of our accommodation was in a quiet but great location to get out to the shops and seafront.

Tips:

It was fairly quiet on the Monday and Tuesday in the evening but we did find The Pirate Inn not far from our accommodation. Great food, atmosphere and on the night we visited there was some great live folk music. The town had some nice restaurants and the Admiral Benbow is worth a visit. Penzance is a great location with Lands End only 9 miles away, St Michael's Mount and Sennen cove all within 15 minutes drive.

We found Hazel & Russell to be very friendly & accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The room was ideal for our stay & very clean. Wide range on offer for breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Tips:

Definitely recommend the Navy Inn for an evening meal. A trip to Sennen Cove and something to eat at Ben Tunnicliffe is a must. The Front Room on Market Jew St in Penzance is a hidden treasure too.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this friendly and helpful B&B. My room was clean and airy. I had a lovely bathroom and the breakfasts were delicious. Some nice books to read. I enjoyed walking along the sea front to town. I would like to revisit in the future.

Tips:

Very conveniently situated if like me you don't have a car it is easy to walk to St Michael's Mount and Mousehole. Transport links eg train to St Ives and bus to Lands End easy to locate and get to. I loved visiting Penlee House and the art exhibition during the summer was stunning.

I cannot recommend the Pendennis highly enough. Our hosts, Russell and Hazel, went out of their way to make us feel welcome right from the start. Nothing was too much trouble - they arranged an extra night's stay at short notice when we had travel problems, they ensured I had gluten-free bread for breakfast, and even provided a freshly prepared fruit salad as I couldn't eat cereal. Our room was clean and comfortable and couldn't be faulted in any way. Quite simply, the Pendennis is the best place to stay in Penzance.

Tips:

Everywhere is easily accessible by bus, and you can buy a 7 day unlimited travel pass from First Great Western for £25. The bus station is right next door to the Tourist information Office.

Our stay at The Pendennis was faultless. Breakfast was delicious! Our room at the top of the house was very comfortable - immaculate! The owners Hazel and Russell couldn't do enough for us and made our stay in Cornwall extremely pleasant. The location was perfect and with good advice from Hazel and Russell we visited places within a short drive away. Well done to both for running a first class guest house.

Tips:

Our favourite restaurant was The Italian Kitchen and favourite bar/restaurant with a lovely village feel was The Pirate Inn. A must to visit is The Mirnack Theatre - amazing! The Telegraph Museum is very interesting and worth a visit. The beach close by to both is great - spectacular views of course.

9th September 2014:

We enjoyed our stay because of the friendly, attentive style of service and because we found The Pendennis a welcoming and comfortable base. On our arrival the owner explained the key points about the way The Pendennis operates, its facilities and the locale - this was augmented by clear information set out in bedside folders and notices. During our stay the owner checked that all was satisfactory and reminded us to ask if we needed anything else. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well-supplied. There was also a good choice of breakfast - this was served by the owner who took the opportunity to chat to her guests - her enthusiasm, breadth of knowledge and useful advice supplemented the considerable amount of tourism literature in the foyer. The Pendennis is near enough to the centre of Penzance to make walking to the shops, restaurants etc an easy option - and particularly pleasant if the path through the park is taken.

The Pendennis is home. Cozy and clean, excellent. The bed was very comfortable, the room bright and the guest house is located in a very quiet place, with a nice garden. Russell and Hazel are nice and friendly. I had a nice stay. Thank you!

Tips:

Alexandra Road is not very close to the town centre but with a nice walk on the promenade (or in Alverton Street if the promenade is too windy) you get to the centre very easily. A laundrette and a pub are very close to the guest house; the bus stop to Land's End is very near, near Alexandra Inn on the same road. Cornwall is not cold but quite windy so don't forget your scarf or foulard, especially if you are not used to British weather and Ocean's winds.

Simply The Best. My Husband & I stayed at The Pendennis Guest House and we must say that it was simply The Best, and at the accommodation we had a very warm welcome given by Russel & Hazel. Our room was very nicely decorated with modern furnishings and a very nice comfortable bed, a good supply of tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits replenished daily, everything was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was the tops, beautifully cooked using local produce and very well presented. Any information we needed to know was freely given and very helpful on our stay in Cornwall. We will most certainly be coming back to Russel & Hazel again, can't wait for the next time. Thoroughly recommended.

The bed and breakfast Pendennis is very central within Penzance and accessible to trains and buses, in order to explore this beautiful place. This bed and breakfast offers a very friendly welcome and greeting by hard working patrons, who offer tips for your stay and knows of events going on and around Penzance. For example, visiting the Eden Project a fantastic journey of colour and plant life! Which is an array of magical flowers, butterflies and exotic plants. Also, the Pendennis offers a wonderful breakfast to enjoy and start your precious time in Cornwall, every morning. Offering choices of cooked and continental breakfast of your choosing during your wonderful stay...

Tips:

Relax and enjoy the various cafes which offer cream teas and lovely coffee's and scones!(with jam of course)Homemade. I recommend "the honey pot" an escape to enjoy but there are others around! The artists beautiful capture of the sea, fishing boats and St.Michaels Mount a wonder and feast for the eyes. The Park nearby the Pendennis another place of escape and St.Ives.Further, there is library near the Pendennis opens at 9am and I recommend the unisex hairdressers "Maritas". 1a New Street, Penzance Cornwall for good prices if you fancy a blowdry or hair cut...

Loved wandering around the lanes by bicycle and on foot in both Penzance and nearby Mousehole, seeing the town from a perspective that motorists often miss.

Lovely, clean rooms, bed linen and towels. We found the staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful. Great location in the heart of Penzance with easy parking. Highly recommended.

Tips:

Would recommend visiting St. Michael's Mount in Penzance, some of the lovely beaches just past Marazion, St. Ives Tate and Hepworth Museum and for longer excursions definitely Port Issac and Padstow.

We were restless content in "The Pendennis" and we recommend this B&B for families or single travelling persons. The room was really nice, quiet and clean.

The Owners are very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Room was great and Breakfasts are home cooked and very good.

Tips:

I travelled from Essex by train and rented a car from Enterprise who collect you and take you where you want to go at the end of the rental period. Good restaurants within walking distance and the onwers will reccommend ones to you. Visited St Ives, Mousehole, Lands End, Sennen, The Lizzard, Praa Sands Beach and St Micheals Mount. All are within easy travelling distance, either by car or public transport.

Stayed for 3 nights and hospitality, facilities and food were excellent. If anything at all was missing it would be a shelf to put toiletries in the en-suite but this would definitely not stop us from booking another stay!

The only 'fault' I could find with The Pendennis was that Room 1 has very light curtains and there is a street light outside which means the room is light at night. I prefer a dark room.
