21st June 2018:

This is a wonderfully restful place to stay, near the sea and lovely gardens, but quiet. The welcome was very friendly, and the breakfast very generous and with a big choice of dishes. It is not too far from the station and the bus terminal, so even non-drivers can use it as a base to get around the peninsula.

Tips:

It is an easy bus or train journey to St Ives for the Barbara Hepworth Studio, or to Porthcurno for the Minack Theatre. Penlee House, which has a lovely collection of Newlyn School paintings, is in the same road as the hotel. The Turk's Head Inn in Chapel Street does excellent food.

Good breakfast in the morning, owner and his wife are really very friendly and open for recommendations (sightseeing, pubs, bars, restaurants etc). Really great service!!! And the "green entrance door" is really very funny and nice :-) You will see it when you arrive :-) Lovely garden with great combination of British - eastern charme!

Do a short hiking tour to the Trengwainton Garden. The landlord will tell you how to get there. For dinner you shouldn't miss the Thai restaurant. Ask the hosts for the name and way. We went there 3 times as it was really great!

We really enjoyed our time with you. Felt welcome at all times and the service provided was brilliant. The hotel is located ideally and we have been given so many helpful ideas for places to visit. Rooms are clean, up to standard and well looked after- just like the rest of the hotel.

Tips:

Breakfast at the hotel will keep you happy for a long time. Down the road is a great Italian Restaurant with view of the sea ( called Ginos). Best Fish& Chips was at Makrel Sky. Not a typical chippy, but very small local restaurant with only a few tables. If going to Lands End, go early- from around 11 there are many busses with tourists coming. For many more things to do and see, the great staff at Estoril will know what to recommend.

Great location just two minutes to centre of town and near harbour and in a quiet street. Lovely room with immaculate decor and cleanliness. One of the best breakfasts every. If you don't like narrow steep staircases then avoid second floor.

It is a very, very long time since I was so pleased with a room, and breakfast was always excellent. What more can I say? JBK

Wow what a super guest house. Our room was fantastic and had everything we could want The room we had was huge with excellent ensuite facilities. The bed was so comfortable myself and my wife did not want to wake up for breakfast. However were glad we did because breakfast was excellent, it was a buffet style breakfast with many tasty options, the only negative thing was that there was no sausage option

Tips:

Penzance is a perfect location to explore the western tip of Cornwall with Lands end and the stunning St ives only a short hop away by car or public transport. We arrived by rail, the station is a good 15 mins walk away.

Location is very central, a reasonable walk to the bus and train station along the lovely coastline.

Tips:

There are many things to do in this area. If you are a keen walker, Mousehole and St Michaels Mount can be walked to or, alternatively a short bus ride away. St. Ives is also worth a visit and is a bus ride away, or half hour drive by car. Penzance itself is a beautiful historic town with many buildings and parks of interest. Shopping is also unusual and quirky

We only stayed one night but the welcome was excellent. The proprietor and his wife could not have been more helpful, including excellent advice on best places to dine. Very helpful too with our need for an early start. Well used to Isles of Scilly travellers and their travel arrangements.

Tips:

No there long enough to comment other than to say there is lots of history and character, nearby gardens, easy reach of Lands End, St Ives, the Lizard etc. and ideal if traveling to the Isles of Scilly by boat or Skybus. Turks Head pub was excellent for food and service.

A lovely comfortable bed in a quiet spot with a beautiful garden. Lavish spread for breakfast and personal attention from the owners who really went out of their way to make me feel welcome and to help me with luggage etc as I am partially disabled with arthritis.

Tips:

Just up the road from Estoril is the Penlee gallery with some lovely Newlyn School painters' work. Moving studies of fishing families. The Wheelhouse Restaurant not far away does a wonderful, and affordable, crab au gratin. If you want a good day trip, then St Ives and the Hepworth Museum is not to be missed.

Lovely room in quirky house which has been enhanced beautifully with lots of dainty touches from Thailand. Buffet breakfast was excellent, and even though the coffee was from a machine, it was very, very good. Host very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, eg where to eat, what to see. En suite small, but nicely fitted out. We would stay there again.

Tips:

Parks and gardens very close, seafront promenade and Penzance town centre both within easy walking distance, a good variety of places to eat and drink are also nearby. Good setting-off point for the Isles of Scilly ferry, as the harbour is fairly near to the bottom of the road.

The owners and the stuff of the hotel have been always very friendly and helpfully. If you have had a wish or a question at breakfast Nang was always there to help. And Eddie helped me often to plan my routes for walking. My room was very good. It was always nice quiet in the hotel.

Tips:

The hotel is in a beautiful and quiet street. You can walk through the Morrab Park into the city centre in less than 5 min. Or you can walk to the Panlee Park up in Morrab Road. A beautiful park with a very nice Cafe and Museum. You can walk to St. Michaels Mount, mostly on the beach, it is a wonderful walk. You can drive with several buses for example to Lands End, the Minack Theatre or to St. Ives. My favorite Restaurant in Penzance was Ginos Spaghettis.

Tips:

The Estoril Hotel is situated in a beautiful, quiet location, even though it's on a normal street. We were attending our friends wedding at Penzance Register office and chose the hotel on a previous visit as it's in walking distance. Pleasant, clean, quiet little hotel with comfortable beds and good bathrooms. The lack of a cooked breakfast is made up by the range of cold food, fruit salad, cereal etc. Very convenient for travellers to and from the Isles of Scilly - the early start and late finish to breakfast is very helpful. Would choose it again.

Tips:

If you are only staying overnight suggest you pack overnight things in one small bag and leave large ones downstairs. The climb to the top floor is steep, and bordering on dangerous coming down with heavy bags. We left ours in the office without any problem. We ate at a chinese restaurant - very good.

Tips:

Thank you for your advice especially re. The Navy Inn and the Honey Pot - we frequented both more than once! We also loved Penlee House and spent a day in St. Ives, both well worth a visit. The Hotel was exceedingly clean and tidy, the rooms were kept clean every day. The service and friendliness of the owners was second to none, nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Tips:

Plenty of local entertainment and yet the hotel is situated in a peaceful area. Numerous restaurants and eating places locally to all budgets and tastes. Plenty of places of interest to visit whatever your preference by foot or car.

Although we did not find it a problem the stairs could prove difficult for the less active and the parking was " interesting"!!!! But the warmth of welcome anf friendliness was a joy.

Excellent hotel. Well managed with friendly staff.

Tips:

Good base for Padstow and surrounding area. Despite been near a main(ish) road surprisingly quiet. The best hotel I stayed at in Cornwall!

21st August 2012:

Very pleasant staff, beautiful old building. Could have done with an extension lead to help with my hair routine, as there was no mirror in the bedroom. The free wifi was not accessible from our loft room, I had to sit on the stairs to gain access.

Tips:

I could not recommend the Chinese take-away which is advertised in your rooms, they couldn't understand english, and the set-up was dirty and aged, couldn't bring myself to even try the food.

A very well run small hotel. High levels of cleanliness and service and a superbly different breakfast. Parking can be difficult but more that made up for by the quality of accomodation.

8th August 2012:

Clean, attractive & comfortable room; good value, welcoming staff. Breakfast is cold, but hot croissants, excellent fruit salad, yogurt - I had gluten-free muesli on request - & good coffee. I left my heavy bag there for half a day after I checked out. I look foward to returning.

Tips:

Next to Penlee Park - we got the Club tel no from Estoril & booked a tennis court that afternoon; sub tropical Gardens too. BEST THING EVER though just along the prom is the Jubilee Pool LIDO _ vast open-air seawater 1950's blue & white Lido + hot shower, friendly staff & excellent cafe (huge & delicious crab sandwich)- it's like the sea only warmer (a bit) and with no waves or seaweed - fab!

I found you both very polite and helpful and easy to talk to.

There is a pub along the front on the corner called The Dolphin Inn which serves wonderful food. The Morrab Gardens just down the road are a wonderful place to take photographs.

I love your hotel so much. The location is perfect although it is a little bit far from train station, but I can walk along the sea and enjoy the view when I walk back home. That make me not feel tired and reach accommodation with full happiness. I love boutique style decoration. This is exceed my expectation. You and your husband are so friendly. I surely com back again if I have chance. I post your hotel pics to my fb and many people need to go to your hotels and travel in Penzance. :)

Tips:

just 5-10 minutes walk to restaurants and bar. You can go to the train station to buy bus tour ticket number 300. It is just 7 pounds and you can travel many attractions around there.

11th July 2012:

Lovely room - just needed a mirror in the room because the hairdryer didn't reach the one in the bathroom. Other than that a perfect stay - and I'm not usually easily pleased. Such lovely hosts, delicious breakfast with really good coffee, perfect location near to town but not at all noisy, lovely new shower room, and very comfy bed. Next time I need to stay in Penzance I know where I will be headed! Thank you very much.

Tips:

Penlee House is just up the road and definitely worth a visit either to view their latest exhibition or just for tea and cake in the lovely cafe overlooking the peaceful garden. Archie Browns is hidden away just off to the right at the start of Causeway Head and is my favourite place for delicious wholefood lunches, cakes and coffee.

Tips:

The estoril hotel is perfectly situated for cyclists,it is only 10 miles from lands end. There are so many lovely picturesque places in and near penzance, that it is a keen cyclists perfect escape.

The room was very nice and the breakfast was great!!

Tips:

St Michael's Mount looks amazing but it is hard to get there - you can only walk there when the tides are out, it is closed on Saturdays, and if it is windy the boats don't go at all. I'd recommend allowing yourself a few days in the area so you have options to coordinate getting to the island.
